Contemporary Art Practice
Nicole Hall is inspired by every day happenings, emotions and the seemingly banal. She places her daughter at the centre of her work as an exploration of their Mother and Daughter relationship. The slow process of film photography allows her to investigate her own maternal experience and her identity within the realm of Motherhood. She believes her work is as much about her daughter as it is herself. It details where they have been and where they are now in an autobiographical visual telling.
The work within the degree show continues to explore their relationship, however the focus has been narrowed due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. Many of the images are a narration of their own experience during this time of lockdown, portraying the intimacy in isolation, their emotions and confinement.
