A person’s state of mind is built from each of their life experiences from childhood to the present, forming a special ‘mind room’ unique to that person, and one which determines the reality that they perceive.
Although each individual is unable to see within the minds of others, it is important to attempt to unveil the myriad of possible mind states and portray them for the viewer. Molly Macleod’s work uses illustrative narratives, capturing both whimsical innocence and darkness, to explore the subconscious and unconscious mind. Through this Macleod seeks to evoke a sense of empathy and understanding of the shared experience embedded within the human psyche.
