Fashion and Textile Design
Melissa Mclaren’s final year project is based on the older generation of Aberdeen. After interviewing and documenting people from a sheltered housing complex she then went onto creating illustrations incorporating the characters that were discovered, along with the contrast of modern-day words and sayings that she is surrounded by.
With the current situations in the world changing dramatically, she began to include the current topic of Corona Virus in her studies to create a fresh lighthearted approach to the subject. Focusing on textiles for fashion she explores a range of embroidery and illustrative techniques in her work.
