Contemporary Art Practice
Leigh Brash’s work centres around the notion of one’s identity, primarily their own. As someone who has had deep-rooted identity issues for most of their life, it interested them to investigate this and explore this idea of “identity” when creating work.
With a keen interest in performance art, drag culture and a penchant for all things green; the persona of the Tiny Green Guy was formed. The themes of their work relate to themes of identity, but more so on how our identity can be skewed, changed, and replaced with the idea of characterisation and satire – conveyed through the use of performance art, moving image and wearable sculpture.
