Isabelle Rice’s graduate collection explores the concept of human interaction – with the sense of touch allowing us to connect with bodies in a unique way. By taking the person away from the physical body, she was able to begin researching into the beauty of human connections. When we think of touch we assume it comes from a hand, this allowed the hand to become a significant component in her development – the gloves in her project representing this idea.
Through research and development, with her initial concept being the interaction between fabric and bodies, photoshoots and digital collage allowed her to construct her final visualised looks/artworks. The importance of human interaction has become more relevant during this pandemic – loneliness has made people consider the crucial need for touch. She considered this longing for human connection in her final weeks of designing this collection
