Fashion and Textile Design

Emily Burnel

Emily Burnel’s inspiration evolved from studying the transient qualities of ice and water. Capturing the fluid and spontaneous nature of water as well as the frigid, sculptural properties when its frozen. The combination of these subject matters lead to a body of work that explores subtle liquidity in contrast to angular layering and a tonal colour scheme.

Using biodegradable materials where possible, she created a textile collection loosely visualised on Gareth Pugh’s 2014 collection. Taking plastics and having them work in harmony with nature inspired textiles as a way to counter the damaging effects they have in reality.
