As a Norwegian living in Scotland, Åse Vikse feels privileged to call two countries her home.
The perception of place and how it affects us is an area of interest to her. Can a place make an imprint, can a memory be preserved in an object?
The decision to focus on Printmaking for her final year has made her confident that this will form a new chapter of her life.
After graduating, she wants to commence on a new path as a Printmaker.
When lockdown became a reality during her honours year, it introduced her to opportunities, not hinders. She embraced themes such as improvisation and experimentations while opting for sustainable and degradable material.
Vikse aims to build bridges with her work and quotes Thomas Kilpper,
‘I print therefore I am’.
